Some Amazing Times
03/20/2011 14:20Ahhhhh....exactly one week from today, I will be getting married! I am past the nervous stage and now I am just excited! The last few weeks have consisted of a lot of planning and wrapping up the little last minute details. I am still in shock about all that goes into a wedding. In the mist of all the planning, we have been making time for the fun stuff!
Sunday March 6th - Wedding Shower
My best friends (Jaime, Jenna, and Tiffany) and my Mom and 2nd Mom (Tammy) threw Todd and I "a couples wedding shower". The theme was wine (one of my favorite things) and Vegas (one of Todd's favorite things). The shower was at Fieldstone Club House and was absolutely beautiful! Everything from the decorations, food, cake and most of all the people.....were perfect!
Saturday March 19th - Bachelorette Party
8 of us went to Sip N Strokes and painted "Water Lilies" by Monet. We had a small buffet of meat, chesses, fruit, chips and dip, brownies, and cup cakes, oh yeah and wine! I had my own tiara with a purple veil attached to it and Jaime painted a personalized smock for me that everyone signed at the end of the evening. I had so much fun!
I really appreciate the efforts and details that everyone has put into these special events! I have had a blast and I couldn't ask for better friends and family!
A Little Over 2 Months Away
01/12/2011 19:07Wow...time really does fly! People are starting to ask if I am getting nervous about the big day. My answer "I am not nervous about getting married, only nervous about all of the stuff I have to get done in the next two months!"
Here are some of the things I have done so far:
- Went to a couple of bridal shows to get some ideas!
- Wedding Date - March 27th 2011, 12:30pm to 4:30pm
- Wedding Venue - Little Gardens in Lawrenceville, GA. The ceremony and reception will both be held at Little Gardens. Weather permitting, we will have the ceremony outside and then move inside for the reception. March 27th 2010 was about 70 degrees...that would be awesome weather for an outside ceremony, so keep your fingers crossed! If weather does not permit, then the ceremony will be moved inside.
- Wedding Dress - I ordered the dress from David's Bridal. I must admit that I never had the "ah ha" moment or the "Say yes to the dress" moment. I tried on many dresses looking for that moment and personally I like almost all of them. They were all beautiful!
- Save the Dates - I ordered/customized Save the Date magnets online through a company called Magnet Street. I was pleased with how they turned out, but later found out that will the rise in stainless steel refrigerators in the past few years, not everyone could put them on their fridge (oh well, you can always stick it to the side of your car or in a drawer!)
- Photographer - We will be using AJ Photography. Amy Jo came highly recommended by one of my brides maids. I have uploaded a couple of the engagement photos she did for us, so please check those out in the Photogallery on this website.
- DJ and Videographer - We will be using Complete Music and Video. I can't say much about them...I met them at one of the bridal shows I attended.
- Officiant - Kathy Davis - My awesome aunt! She lives in Colorado and is a certified officiant in that state, but after I got engaged, she was kind enough to get certified in the state of GA so she could be a very special part of my big day!
- Brides Maid - Faith Dinges (Junior Bridesmaid), Jenna Lee, Tiffany Nobles, Jaime Fountain, Jessica Turco
- Groomsmen - Trent Bilodeau (Best Man - Todd's son), Keith Lee, Kevin Lee, Mark Roberts, Jesse McNeely
- Flower Girl - Maddie Torrey (Todd's Niece) - We are so excited to have Maddie as our flower girl, she is our favorite princess!
- Ring Bearer - We aren't planning on having a ring bearer. We are planning on letting the best man (Trent) hold the rings during the ceremony.
- Brides Maid Dresses - I picked the color Watermelon from David's Bridal and I let the brides maids pick the style of dress they preferred. I wanted the girls to be comfortable and confident in the dress they were wearing! We still need to decide on some shoes...right now I am thinking silver.
- Tuxes - Savvi Formalwear - Groom, Best Man, Groomsmen, and Father of the Bride have all been fitted for their tuxes. They will be wearing black Calvin Klein tuxes and I know they will all look handsome!
- Makeup - I will be using Timeless by Paula - Amy Jo (AJ Photography) works very closely with Paula and highly recommended her for my makeup on the day of the wedding. My Mom will also be getting her makeup done by Paula on the big day.
- Hair - Salon Pure - Salon Pure is located in Cumming and I worked with Crystal. I also chose this salon based on recommendations from Amy Jo (AJ Photography) as she has worked with her on many occasions. My Mom will also be getting her hair done by Salon Pure on the big day.
- Decor - Little Gardens has a decor department. I met with them last month and made decisions on flowers, decor for the venue, etc.
- Wedding Cake - We have decided on a wedding cake! We are getting this through Magic Moments (company that manages Little Gardens and several other wedding venues). Magic Moments started out as a catering company and later got into wedding venues.
- Reception Menu - We have a tentative menu selected and are very close to finalizing it. The catering is done through Magic Moments as well and we received a tasting box a while back and the food was delicious!
- Invitations - I ordered them through a website called Ann's Bridal Bargains. They should be arriving any day now and I plan to have them shipped out to our guests by the end of Jan. Keep an eye out for these!
- Gift Registry - We are working on an Amazon Wedding Registry now! Here is a link to our Amazon Wedding Registry...https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wedding/EN5C2AQGYXG1
- Honeymoon - The best part right! We have booked a room in Huntington Beach, CA. We still need to book the flights but are researching those now. We plan on seeing LA, Hollywood, San Diego, etc!
- Hotel Block - I am currently working on getting some hotel rooms blocked. Todd and I spent last week researching and viewing hotels close to Little Gardens. We are very close to making a decision and should have more info about that very soon.
- Rehearsal Dinner - We are also discussing the rehearsal dinner plans and will have more info on that soon as well.
So now you know what I have been doing the last several months. Things are finally starting to come together or shall I say fall into place! As the big day gets closer, I am getting more and more excited! I can't wait to see you all then!
With Love,
Val
